Last week W.Bro Rob Dewberry 951, W.Bro Rob Nichols Royal Gloucestershire lodge and Bro. Giles Russell 951 headed down to Botley Freemason centre in Hampshire to attend the Football lodge 9921 “home game”, a double 2nd degree ceremony. The intrepid trio were honoured to be the personal guests of W.Bro Trevor Conduit POW 1705 and also a member of the football lodge. 107 Freemasons attended the meeting including many POW members from all over the country.

The ceremony was performed with precision and a highlight was a most excellent alternative version of the 2nd degree tracing board which was safely balanced on a table football game.

Only one yellow card was produced during the ceremony so all in all, a clean game. The evening ended with some proper footy food, pie, chips and peas followed by apple pie and custard and a rousing sing along to the Football Lodge song “Blue is the Colour”

The meeting was attended by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Provincial Grand Master and Assistant Grand Master.
A superb evening was had by all.

Thank you Gils, Rob D and Rod N for submitting this blog.

A another novel touch was that the summons comes in the form of a football programme, with the Officers laid out as the team formation, and any acclaimation in the Lodge was given in the form of clapping to a chant recognisable to any genuine football supporter!
