19th Dec 2024 - Christmas has started at the David Garrick Lodge No 4243

On Thursday 19th December, WBro. Rob Dewbery was invited with WBro. Rob Nichols of Royal Gloucestershire Lodge No 839, & Shipston on Stour Lodge No 9418 (a frequent visitor to 951) to attend David Garrick Lodge No 4243, meeting at the Masonic Temple, in Stratford upon Avon, as the guests of WBro. Keith Kennedy. Rod went on to explain that after a short meeting upstairs, including an advancement in daily Masonic Knowledge, with a 5min lecture entitled 'Must we Follow the Ritual Book?', which confirmed the truth of the mantra of our late DC WBro. John Dee, who when queried by younger Brethern, "Why do we say ....., when the book says......", to which came the answer "We were Consecrated before THAT book was written! "

We then adjourned downstairs for a very enjoyable festive board at which, after the Toasts to the Superior and Subordinate, we were joined by 5 members of the Salvation Army Band, who led us in the lusty rendition of a number of Christmas Carol's.

Many members where heard to comment that they now felt that Christmas had truly started. The Lodge gave the Salvation Army a cheque for £1000 towards their good works after the performance. The evening was completed with the Toasts to the Worshipful Master, and to the Visitors, and it fell to WBro Dewbery to respond to the later, having 'felt' the heavy hand of the DC no sooner than he had walked through the door and taken his coat off! It was, of course, no chore, after such an excellent evening at such a small but very friendly Lodge.

The Prince of Wales Lodge Lodge wish all readers of this post a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Thank you to W.Bro Rob for this post and for the pictures.
