Charity, Community… and a Bit of Rock ’n’ Roll
It’s been a brilliant week for the Prince of Wales Lodge — a perfect snapshot of what Freemasonry looks like when you blend charity, community spirit, and a healthy dose of summer fun.
Supporting Cheltenham General Hospital
Earlier this week, our Charity Steward Alan and our ADC Kevin visited Cheltenham General Hospital to present a £900 donation to the Orthopaedic Department.
The funds will be used to purchase two specialist sets of scales for pre‑operative patient weighing — a simple but essential part of safe surgical care.
In the photo from the visit you’ll spot Staff Nurse Anne, Kevin, and Isabel, who has been Kevin’s key contact throughout. Their gratitude was heartfelt, and it was a privilege to support a team doing such vital work for our community.
Backing Mental Health Staff Wellbeing
A further £900 donation has been made to the Mental Health Support Unit, who will be using the funds to purchase outdoor furniture for their staff garden.
In a high‑pressure environment, having a peaceful outdoor space to decompress isn’t a luxury — it’s a lifeline. We’re proud to help create that moment of calm for the people who care for so many others.
And Now… Summer Recess Begins!
Of course, charity and community are at the heart of what we do — but Freemasons are also human beings who love to get out, enjoy life, and spend time with family and friends.
And with summer recess upon us, the Lodge has been doing exactly that.
Rocking Out at Download 26
Members of the Lodge have been spotted at Download Festival 2026, including Giles, Jen, Luke, Ben and Will.

…all gearing up to rock out to Guns N’ Roses and a whole lineup of legendary bands.
As someone said on the day: “It’s a tough gig… but we’ll smash it.” And smash it they did.
More Music Across the Country
Meanwhile, Bro Jason and his wife Sarah were also out enjoying a music event of their own — proving that whether it’s metal, rock, indie, or anything in between, HillTop Masons know how to let their hair down.
Freemasonry: Serious About Charity, Serious About Community… and Serious About Enjoying Life
This week captures the balance we’re proud of:
- Supporting our NHS with practical, meaningful donations
- Backing mental health staff with resources that genuinely help
- Staying active in our communities
- And celebrating life with the people who matter most
Freemasonry isn’t just meetings and ritual. It’s friendship. It’s laughter. It’s service. It’s living life fully — together.
