13th September 2024 - WHAT A NIGHT AND WHAT A YEAR!!!

13th Sept 2024 - Sept was our first regular meeting back after the summer break and the last meeting of the year for our current WM John Bryant before he installs our new WM in October. And what a year he has presided over. He has initiated 5 candidates and passed 2 of them. During our Sept meeting we welcomed our newest initiate Bro Jason to the lodge.  Our WM has been well and worthily supported by his Wardens and Brethren throughout the year, and also creating history as it was the first time in our 160 year history that we have had a double initiation and a double passing. W. Bro John has certainly supported our mission, which is to be a fun Lodge that all men aspire to join.

On the same evening our WM and Charity Steward presented a cheque to W. Bro Trevor Conduit to support the excellent work carried out by Sophie’s Legacy a charity that supports families who end up in hospital with their child - www.sophieslegacy.co.uk

The support that the charity gives varies depending on each situation, as an example the following is offered;

Help with transport costs (fuel vouchers, bus or train passes or taxis)

Clothes when admitted in an emergency with their child

Birthday parties in hospital for children and parents

Emotional support

End of life wishes for children and their families

Vouchers for meals at the hospital restaurant or shops such as M&S

Costa vouchers

Beauty treatments such as nails, haircut or back massage when a parent needs it – this tends to be for the parents in for long stays.

The Brethren of the Prince of Wales Lodge are proud to support this wonderful charity.
