Building a caring society with Integrity, Friendship, Respect and Charity
Discover Freemasonry
Freemasonry is one of the world's oldest and largest non-political, non-religious, charitable and fraternal organisations.
It instils in its members a moral and ethical approach to life. It teaches concern for people, care for the less fortunate and help for those in need.
Its members are taught its principles (moral lessons and self-knowledge) by a series of ritual dramas - a progression of allegorical plays, which are learnt by heart and performed within each Lodge. These follow ancient forms and use stonemasons' customs and tools as allegorical guides.
Freemasonry can mean many different things to its members. For many, it is about making new friends and acquaintances. To others it is about helping deserving causes - making a contribution to society and family. For most, it is a mixture of all of these, and also proves a most enjoyable undertaking.
